Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day project activities, work plans, timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate Consortium Steering Committee meetings, including scheduling, materials, logistics, documentation, action items, and follow-up.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, service providers, public agencies, community organizations, advocates, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of community engagement strategies designed to ensure broad and meaningful participation.
  • Organize community conversations, listening sessions, workshops, public meetings, outreach activities, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Recruit, onboard, coordinate, and support Community Ambassadors, including individuals with lived experience who help expand community participation.
  • Gather and document community feedback and ensure that emerging priorities inform project planning and implementation.
  • Coordinate project communications, including website content, newsletters, email communications, social media, outreach materials, and event promotion.
  • Coordinate with the project's evaluation subcontractor to support surveys, participation tracking, evaluation activities, reporting, and the use of evaluation findings to strengthen the initiative.
  • Maintain accurate project records, stakeholder information, meeting documentation, and other information necessary for project implementation and reporting.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings and events, including venues, registration, technology, accessibility, materials, vendors, and participant communications.
  • Support development and dissemination of the community continuum, community-wide substance use plan, progress reports, presentations, and other major project products.
  • Represent the initiative at community meetings, conferences, forums, and public events.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, social work, public health, community development, project management, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, community engagement, communications, coalition-building, program coordination, or a related area.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with the Austin/Travis County substance use, behavioral health, recovery, and community-service landscape is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, organizations, and systems.
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating community meetings, events, outreach activities, or collaborative initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project leadership, community stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow projects through from planning to completion.
  • Experience with websites, email communications, newsletters, social media, and other communication tools.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, and maintaining project or engagement data.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, and common project and communication tools.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
Work Environment

This is a hybrid position based in Austin, with work conducted remotely, at Communities for Recovery's downtown office, and in community settings throughout Austin and Travis County. Local travel is required, and some evening and weekend work will be necessary to accommodate community meetings, events, and outreach activities. The position requires regular use of computers, telephones, video conferencing platforms, and other office technology; the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for meetings, events, and outreach activities; and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
