Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to oversee construction job costing across a large project and several smaller ones. You will categorize, record, analyze and monitor costs and billings while ensuring vendor compliance to manage project risk.

Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely and accurate accounting, risk management, and clear project status reporting throughout the lifecycle of the program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong accounting knowledge.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
  • Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
  • Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
  • Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
  • Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
  • Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.

Job description

The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

  • Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
  • Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
  • Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s
  • Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.

Pay:

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Washington, this ranges from$37.78-$44.66 hourly plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
