Job summary

HDR is seeking a Project Accountant II in Virginia Beach to autonomously manage client invoicing, collections, and project budgets, while ensuring accurate contract documentation and budgeting. You will coordinate with project staff and maintain compliance with contractual requirements in a dynamic environment.

The role requires an associate degree with at least five years of experience and familiarity with Earned Value Management, plus strong communication and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience.
• Familiar with Earned Value Management and strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook.
• Commitment to employee-owned culture and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Work autonomously on client invoicing, collections management and project budgeting.
• Provide backup on coding and processing A/P, time sheets, and expense reports.
• Accurately contract documentation, administration and maintenance, including fee and budget entry.
• Coordinate project accounting system within the department and ensure contractual compliance.
• Assist multiple project managers and staff daily; mentor junior accountants.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Education

Associate degree in accounting or related field

Five years of experience (advanced degree may offset)

Excellent verbal and written communication

MS Office proficiency (Word, Outlook)

Earned Value Management familiarity
