Gilbane is seeking an Accountant that is a mid‑level professional capable of fulfilling the project accounting and project financial forecasting requirements of small to mid‑sized jobs, including day‑to‑day interface with project management, clients, and subcontractors. This role will sit primarily in the office, but travel to project job sites meeting with the project teams and subcontractors is required.

Responsibilities
  • Manage contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, files, and CO policies
  • Conduct timely and accurate review of requisitions and lien waivers
  • Set up and properly format project financial forecasts to meet internal and client reporting needs
  • Manage monthly project forecast meetings and maintain accurate ETCs for labor and expenses
  • Ensure timely management of accounts receivable and payables
  • Manage the project financial closeout process
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships both internally and externally
  • Assist with the development of contract abstracts
  • Assist with internal and external audits while responding as directed
  • Review work in process on assigned projects and thoroughly understand and explain variances and balances
Experience & Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 3–8 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to learn construction management and payment management software
  • Knowledge of the overall project execution process including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost, and project profitability
  • Knowledge of construction industry insurance products and construction pricing components
  • Ability to communicate effectively, listen to understand, and clearly convey information for all audiences
  • Acts inclusively by ensuring actions and behaviors are respectful, showing empathy, and treating others with dignity; leverages diverse perspectives and abilities
  • Ability to solve problems by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing alternatives

Salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as internal equity and alignment with the team.
