Job summary

Design Group/Control Tech Automation in Sacramento is seeking a Project Accountant to join our team and manage project revenues, costs, and margins while ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate forecasting. You will partner with project teams and leaders to support client engagements and drive financial accuracy across the board.

Responsibilities include invoicing, revenue recognition, budgeting, and month-end close, with a focus on improving processes and KPIs.

Qualifications

• Relevant financial or accounting experience (preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration.
• Solid interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet monthly closing and project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the financial gatekeeper for project revenues, costs, and margins that flow through to the business' audited financial statements.
• Provide project finance support, oversight, and analysis to local offices and the region.
• Ensure appropriate project set‑up in compliance with finance guidelines and GAAP.
• Review and analyze project forecasts and ensure revenues and margins are forecasted accurately; enter the finalized forecast into the ERP system.
• Review and approve monthly project revenue/cost recognition following GAAP.
• Prepare, review, and issue client invoices; work with clients and A/R to ensure timely collection.
• Track project labor and expenses; advise the project team on budget variations.
• Monitor travel and expenses for policy compliance.
• Support month-end close and analyze business trends and KPIs.
