Job summary

CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Project Accountant in Chagrin Falls, OH. This role focuses on cost control, job costing, and percent complete accounting, working closely with operations to provide accurate financial guidance and timely reporting.

You will collaborate with Estimating, Project Managers, Payroll, and Accounts Payable to set up jobs, manage invoices including AIA and unit price billing, and monitor WIP through monthly meetings and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required with 5+ years of construction experience.
• Experience handling multiple financial tasks concurrently under tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and data integrity.
• Ability to learn, adapt, and improve processes collaboratively.
• Experience with integrated ERP accounting systems, Foundation, and HCSS products (Heavy Bid/Heavy Job/Dispatch/E360).
• Proficient Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Managers to manage invoicing, AIA Billing, and Unit Price Billing ensuring contract/bid documents align.
• Track change orders (Extra Work Orders, Force Accounts) and maintain proper WIP accounting and billing.
• Hold monthly WIP meetings with Project Managers and explain financial impacts to project value and costs.
• Manage and control the Purchase Order process.
• Follow up on open AR and coordinate with Project Managers for timely collections.
• Assist CFO with job cost budgeting/forecasting and overhead analysis.

CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Project Accountant in Chagrin Falls, OH.

Overview

This position requires a highly collaborative team based, systems thinking individual that works closely with operations, providing strong financial guidance with job cost and percent completion accounting and reporting.

Collaboratively work with the Estimating Team, Project Managers, Payroll, and Accounts Payable importing and setting up Jobs as well as related accounting details such as bid data budget, cost codes in our Foundation Construction Accounting system.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Managers, manage, control and process customer invoicing, AIA Billing, and Unit Price Billing ensuring contract/bid documents agree. Ensure invoices for projects are turned in to the owner by the required date making sure all waivers have been turned in as well as work with AP to make sure all subcontract waivers have been processed.
• Work with Project Managers managing and tracking change orders such as Extra Work Orders and Force Accounts assuring proper WIP accounting and billing.
• Hold monthly WIP meetings with Project Managers understanding the project (gains/fades) and related financial impact to the job’s estimated contract value and cost. Meet with executives to explain changes and how that will affect the job financially.
• Manage and control the Purchase Order process.
• Follow up on open AR updating notes and working with Project Managers to ensure timely collection.
• Work with the Project Managers on budgeting and forecasting jobs.
• Assist CFO with job cost bid-budgeting/forecasting and overhead analysis.
• Manage and perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting with 5 or more years of experience in construction.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple financial tasks concurrently and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and data integrity.
• Ability to learn, change and improve processes working collaboratively.
• Ability to work in a high-growth company, collaboratively partnering with others throughout the organization to drive results
• Experience with integrated ERP Accounting Systems. Ideally Foundation Accounting Software, HCSS software products such as Heavy Bid, Heavy Job, Dispatch, and E360.
• Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills with a strong data skills perspective and capabilities.
