Job summary

LHH partners with a growing construction organization to hire an experienced Construction Project Accountant. This direct-hire role owns accounting for projects from setup through closeout, collaborating closely with project and operations teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting, including 3+ in construction or project accounting, with Procore and Sage Intacct experience, and advanced Excel skills to support forecasting and financial reviews.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction or project accounting.
• Construction industry experience required; GC background preferred, subcontractor also considered.
• Strong knowledge of AIA billing, job costing, WIP reporting, % of completion, and change orders.
• Experience with Procore and construction-specific accounting systems like Sage Intacct.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables and lookups).

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle accounting for multiple construction projects from setup to closeout.
• Prepare AIA/progress billings and maintain billing accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage job costing, WIP, % of completion accounting, budgets, contracts, and change orders.
• Monitor project profitability, cost-to-complete, revenue, and cash flow.
• Reconcile project accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Review subcontractor invoices, POs, coding, and approvals.
• Manage documentation including certified payroll, bonds, COIs, and lien waivers.
• Prepare and reconcile project billing within Procore.
• Support cash application, AR, and collections.
• Partner with project managers on forecasting and monthly reviews.
• Assist with audits and financial reporting.

This is a direct-hire opportunity for someone who enjoys owning the accounting for projects from initial setup through final closeout and partnering closely with project and operations teams.

What You'll Do:

• Own full-cycle accounting for multiple construction projects from setup through closeout
• Prepare AIA/progress billings and maintain accurate billing throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, budgets, contracts, and change orders
• Monitor project profitability, cost-to-complete, revenue, and cash flow
• Reconcile project accounts and resolve billing or accounting discrepancies
• Review subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, coding, and approvals
• Manage documentation including certified payroll, bonds, COIs, and lien waivers

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in construction or project accounting
• Construction industry experience required, ideally with a general contractor, although subcontractor experience will be considered
• Strong knowledge of AIA billing, job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and change orders
• Experience with Procore and construction-related accounting systems such as Sage Intacct
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
