Job summary

Landmark Construction seeks a Project Accountant for Athens, GA to manage monthly subcontractor billing, draw packages, and project financials. You will support cost control, financial reporting, and forecasting, collaborating with project managers and the accounting team to ensure accuracy and timely cash flow.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in accounting, a bachelor’s in accounting or a related field, and strong Excel/ERP skills. Travel none; high attention to detail and deadlines required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices.

Responsibilities

• Report to Accounting Supervisor/Manager and work with project managers as required.
• Review budgets, staffing, work plans, and fee structures.
• Provide timely financial reports, budgets, and project forecasts.
• Prepare pre-billing reports for project managers.
• Prepare actual costs, working capital, and draw schedules.
• Issue invoices and purchase orders; pay consultant, subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bills.
• Ensure steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices on time.
• Review contracts for client requirements and budget change orders.
• Prepare draw packages for equity partners and banking institutions.
• Review lien waivers and COIs for accuracy.

Job description

As a Landmark Construction Project Accountant, are play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects. During each month, your primary responsibilities will be ensuring that all subcontractor billing packages are submitted accurately, compiling draw packages, and preparing financials. This individual will contribute to the success of our construction projects by ensuring accurate financial management, cost control and informed decision making. To thrive in this role, you must communicate effectively, prioritize deadlines, be detailed oriented and organized.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Report to the Accounting Supervisor/Manager and working with project managers as required.
• Review budgets, including staffing, work plans, and fee structures.
• Provide project managers and clients with timely financial reports and budgets, as well as project forecasts.
• Prepare pre-billing reports for project managers to review.
• Prepare actual costs, working capital, and draw schedules.

Education & Experience

• Preference of 2-5 years of experience in accounting.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business area is preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets, and financial forecasts.
• Extensive experience in invoicing and billing.
• In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting.
• Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration and client services.
• Proficiency with ERP Accounting Systems, or similar.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel Spreadsheets, and have experience with accounting software
