Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking a Programs Claims Associate to support the North America Claims team and drive the continued growth of AXIS’ Programs business in North America.

Reporting to the Head of North America Programs Claims, you will develop skills in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving insurance claims with coverage analysis and claim strategy. You will work with TPAs, adjusters, and brokers to ensure outstanding service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of equivalent claims handling/underwriting experience in lieu of degree.
  • Claims adjuster license highly preferred.
  • Experience handling commercial Programs claims for syndicates, insurers, brokers, loss adjusters or solicitors preferred.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with numerous customers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Programs Claims for TPAs in various jurisdictions and report to Head of Programs Claims.
  • Ensure understanding of claim policies and procedures in line with standards.
  • Triaging of first notification of loss and efficient use of service providers.
  • Approve accurate claim reserves and make referrals when needed.
  • Review policy wordings to validate coverage and prevent issues.
  • Collaborate with TPAs, independent adjusters, legal advisors, and MGAs to maintain premier service.
  • Monitor jurisdictional legal frameworks and claims handling practices.
  • Maintain productivity, cycle time, and quality of claims; pursue ongoing development.

Job Description

AXIS is seeking a Programs Claims Associate to join our North America Claims team and support the continued growth of AXIS’ Programs business in North America. As a direct report to the Head of North America Programs Claims, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the quality, accuracy, and performance of Program claims. Working under supervision, this role will develop skills in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving insurance claims while gaining hands‑on experience with coverage analysis, claim strategy, vendor coordination, and fair claim outcomes for policyholders. This role will also be responsible for delivering the AXIS North America Claims value proposition engaging with stakeholders, brokers, and insureds to ensure constant communication and service engagement distinguishes AXIS claims every day. This role will lead and develop a team of claims professionals to provide best‑in‑class service and are responsible for:

  • Oversight of Programs Claims for a wide variety of TPAs in various jurisdictions and reporting to the Head of Programs claims
  • Ensures understanding and administration of claim policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with company and policy standards
  • Triaging of first notification of loss, efficiently utilizing an established network of service providers
  • Approve accurate claim reserves and make referrals to Head of Programs claims where necessary
  • Review policy wordings to validate coverage for claims and escape any issues arising
  • Prepare coverage positions to be reviewed and approved by the Head of Programs claims
  • Work closely with TPAs, Independent Adjusters, external legal advisors and MGAs ensuring a premier claims service to clients is maintained, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Develop a working knowledge of the legal frameworks and claims handling practices relevant to the jurisdictions in which the claims arise
  • Monitor and investigate assigned claims and develop a resolution strategy
  • Maintain satisfactory levels of productivity / claims handling cycle time. Continue job skill development through training
  • Responsible for Cycle time, Severity, Quality of claims, Customer Satisfaction level, Professional development of self
  • Additional responsibilities for this role include validation of indemnity and fee payments, ensuring these are processed accurately and promptly, including monitoring and processing of claims bordereaux and ISO searches and reporting,

KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of equivalent claims handling/underwriting experience in lieu of degree
  • Claims adjuster license highly preferred
  • Experience or exposure to handling commercial Programs claims on behalf of a syndicate, insurance company, broker, loss adjuster or solicitor preferred
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills are required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to liaise with numerous customers, both internal and external
  • Intermediate to Advanced experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint preferable
  • Experience with OneNote and Office Products including Outlook highly desired
  • Ability to successfully work in hybrid and self-directed work environment

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $65,000 - $95,000. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
