Job summary

Vertical View is seeking a Programs Assistant Manager to help build and maintain adult and youth climbing programs, including education, events, clubs, and teams. You will plan staffing, hire, exit, train, and facilitate classes.

Responsibilities span climber education, community events, and youth programs with emphasis on safety, coordination, and outreach. Commitment includes 20+ hours weekly, with evenings and some weekends. Salary is $16/hour with gym benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Must have Top Rope, Lead and Belay Takeover certifications at our facility.
• Must have outdoor and indoor climbing experience.
• Must be Safe Sport certified.
• Previous coaching or instructing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in hiring, exiting, and training and schedule instructors.
• Plan, coordinate and staff climber education programs.
• Host and assist with community events and youth program activities.

Job description

Overview

As the Programs Assistant Manager you are responsible for helping to build and maintain adult and youth programs for Vertical View. These programs include climbers education, community events, clubs, and teams. You will play a role in the planning and expansion of programs, staffing needs including hiring, exiting, and training, as well as hands‑on facilitation of programs and classes.

Responsibilities – Climber’s Education

• Assist in hire, exiting, and training
• Schedule instructors for classes
• Collaborate in expansion conversations with the Programs Manager
• Be the face of the program for marketing and advertising

Responsibilities – Community Events

• Host community events with confidence and professionalism, including Adult Meet‑Ups, Adult Leagues, the Pumpkin Pump, and other gatherings with attendance varying from a few to 50+ participants
• Collaborate in the planning and budgeting of events
• Give input on marketing of events

Responsibilities – Youth Programs

• Coach in clubs or teams as needed
• Assist in hiring, exiting, training, and scheduling of employees
• Assist in planning USAC competitions

Preferences and Requirements

• Must be 18+
• Must be available 20+ hours a week on weekday evenings and occasional weekends
• Must be open to a minimum commitment of 1 year
• Must be Top Rope, Lead and Belay Takeover Certified at our facility
• Must have outdoor and indoor climbing experience
• Must be Safe Sport certified
• Previous coaching or instructing experience is preferred
• Physical ability to respond and react quickly and efficiently within the facility. Able to perform all movements relating to belaying and belay instruction; participate and show proper climbing technique, carry/lift up to 25 pounds; stand/sit/walk for extended periods of time.
