The award-winning Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is currently hiring for a Programming Specialist with the East Las Vegas Library.
General Summary:
Under general direction and supervision from a Regional Programming Supervisor or Performing Arts Center Coordinator, responsible for planning, developing, and implementing programs and special events for the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District (District), building programming partnerships with the community, and for the oversight of venue usage. Exercises direct supervision over assigned department staff.
Description of hours and wages:
The pay range for this position is$30.28 to $40.57per hour. Pay typically begins at the minimum of the pay range, and employees are eligible for annual merit and COLA increases per District policy.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), FLSA non-exempt position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs supervision of assigned staff and volunteers including but not limited to:
a. Performance Coaching & Management;
b. Career Counseling & Development; and
c. Conflict Resolution.
2. Performs planning, development, and implementation for the successful coordination of programs, activities, and services at one and occasionally multiple venues throughout the District. Creates and implements programming partnerships for the public, including collaborating with partners and contracted artists.
3. Coordinates and schedules the public use of venues, conference rooms, and special event locations; reviews and responds to online customer facility use requests of conference rooms; provides instruction to customers and explains the proper use of facilities and equipment.
4. Reviews Programming Partnership Applications; suggests approval/denial to District administration. 5. Interprets and discusses District policies with potential and current customers, as well as District staff and management; addresses customer inquiries both on- and off-site by conducting meetings and tour facilities.
6. Assists the public as needed to use library venues and services. Addresses customerinquiries both on- and off-site by conducting meetings and facility tours.
7. Collaborates with other approved District staff to open and close facilities; maintains security of building access codes and keys.
8. Maintains venue and department record keeping, filing systems, and a variety of statistical records.
9. Prepares monthly statistical reports; generates correspondence, memos, contracts, and other materials appropriate to the Programming and Venues Department.
10. Builds and sustains relationships with Library District community partners.
11. Troubleshoots minor audio-visual, lighting, and audio equipment issues.
12. Serves as Person In Charge (PIC) as needed.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
Required: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate’s degree or two (2) years of college level coursework in Fine Arts, Humanities, or a related field.
Experience:
Required: Two (2) years of work experience some of which includes scheduling, communication, presenting for audiences, or experience working with audiovisual/ theatrical equipment.
Preferred: One (1) year of work experience in a supervisory role.

Physical Requirements:
Essential and marginal functions may require regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces; frequent bending, stooping, working in confined spaces; lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 lbs.) items and occasionally very heavy (50 lbs. and over) items; minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of office equipment; utilizing a keyboard, and sitting, or standing for extended periods of time.
