We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Memory Care Activity Assistant to join our team full-time, Thursday through Monday, 9am-5pm. The Memory Care Activity Assistant is responsible for organizing and implementing programs tailored to meet the individual needs of residents, addressing psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring environment. The assistant supports the Activity Director in all programming activities.

Memory Care Activity Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and implement one-on-one, small group, and large group activities according to the programming schedule.
  2. Assist in developing and executing an engaging seven-day-a-week activity program.
  3. Support residents' abilities by recognizing that all aspects of care can be activities.
  4. Understand residents' backgrounds, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacities, and attention spans.
  5. Encourage and motivate residents to attend and participate in activities.
  6. Communicate any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors to the Harbor Care Director.
  7. Remain with the group at all times during excursions.

Memory Care Activity Assistant Requirements:

  • High school diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, with knowledge of aging and disability issues. Qualified by experience and training to develop appropriate programs for elders and disabled individuals.
  • Training and knowledge in recreational activities.
  • Training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrate a positive attitude, and work well under pressure.
