Job summary

Senior Living Residences (SLR) in Farmington, CT is seeking a patient, innovative programming assistant to help the Program Director create, schedule and implement engaging programs for our residents. Join a caring team that coordinates entertainment, outings, and monthly newsletters while ensuring resident safety and wellbeing.

Must have 1+ years working with elderly populations and an associated degree. Per diem shifts available; rates start at $17/hour.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • Must have 1+ years experience working with elderly and/or Alzheimer's populations.

Responsibilities

  • Form meaningful relationships with residents and families.
  • Help implement and coordinate the balanced daily programming schedule for 7 days per week.
  • Support the coordination of entertainment including guest lecturers, musicians, and fitness instructors.
  • Participate in scheduled outings, ensuring the safety of residents on transportation and off-site.
  • Support with developing monthly newsletter, taking photos, and updating social media.

Rates start at $17 per hour.

WHAT OUR PROGRAMMING ASSISTANTS DO

REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Social Work, or related field preferred. Must have 1+ years experience working with elderly and/or Alzheimer's populations.
  • Physical requirements: Standing, sitting, bending, and transferring residents (with and without assistance).
  • Communication: An ability to communicate effectively with residents and co-workers.
  • Punctuality & reliability – Our residents rely on us to assist them with their daily living activities; we expect our associates to deliver on this promise.
