Job summary

FM Industries in Fremont, CA seeks a Programmer, CMM 2 to develop CMM programs using CAD models and support inspection planning from first piece to final production. You will interpret drawings and reference work instructions while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Required: 3–5 years with Zeiss CMMs, Zeiss Calypso, and strong GD&T and measuring-tool skills; independent worker who communicates clearly with team and customers in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years’ experience programming Zeiss CMMs in a machining environment.
• Zeiss Calypso programming experience is required.
• Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including weight gauge, micrometer, caliper, gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner.
• Independent; can work with limited supervision and direction.

Responsibilities

• Develop CMM programs using CAD models.
• Contribute to development of quality inspection plans for first piece setup acceptance, AQL, SPC, and final inspection.
• Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Develop CMM programs using CAD models. Contribute to development of quality inspection plans for first piece setup acceptance, AQL, SPC, and final inspection. Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Advanced blueprint reading, GD&T & shop math (Trigonometry)
• Develop CMM programs in a virtual offline software using CAD based models
• Ability to review customer drawings for errors in GD&T and provide feedback
• Analyze drawings, part specifications, tolerances, and design data to generate CMM programs
• Responsible for Reviewing CMM programs prior to release for production

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 3 - 5 years’ experience programming Zeiss CMMs preferably in a machining environment
• Zeiss Calypso programming experience is required.

• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner
• Ability to understand and follow instructions

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

• Certified training to ASME Y14.5:2009 preferred
• NPI or R&D experience preferred
