Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a PROGRAMMER/ANALYST-SOD. The BI Data Analyst is responsible for the development, documentation, testing, and implementation of management and end user reporting applications. Performs quality assurance for data integrity for the dental school software and applications. Schedules and maintains automated reporting functions for end users. Acts as a direct liaison with users, technical support, and operations personnel. Provides database and application support for all end users.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure the timely development, documentation, testing, and implementation of management and end-user reporting applications.
  2. Schedules and maintains automated reporting functions for end users.
  3. Development, documentation, testing, and implementation of management and end user reporting applications:
    1. Test and monitor data reporting applications, including assistance with coordination of installation/upgrade of new applications.
    2. Assess the usefulness of existing report applications and adapt them to fit user needs.
    3. Develop, document and revise application test procedures, and quality standards.
    4. Write documentation on solved problems, procedures, and frequently asked questions.
    5. Maintain, troubleshoot and diagnose application software as required by assisting with such tasks as version updates, configuration management, software administration and documentation.
    6. Maintain appropriate levels of technical and procedural documentation.
    7. Resolve user requests relating to existing report applications.
  4. Acts as a direct liaison with users, technical support, and operations personnel:
    1. Coordinates problem resolution efforts for reports.
    2. Provide support to end users and maintain good working relationships with and between users and IT staff.
    3. Work in partnership with other departments as required ensuring correct exchange of knowledge and successful transition of developments into production.
    4. Provides assistance and advice to report users in the effective use of applications and information technology.
    5. Serve as a liaison between units to assist in addressing and resolving business intelligence software reporting issues.
  5. Provides database and application support for end users:
    1. Read manuals to learn how applications will meet staff and user requirements.
    2. Research problems and technologies in direct support of solving unit report requests.
    3. Provide applications support and guidance which may include testing of software reports.
    4. Share / spread knowledge throughout the Support Team and relevant areas, from development through to support.
    5. Troubleshoot software report issues.
    6. Provide user support for business report applications, resolving user inquiries and issues.
    7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Math, Engineering, or other related fields and two (2) year of related experience required. Work experience MAY substitute for degree requirement.
