Job Purpose:

We are seeking a seasoned Full-Stack Java Developer to join an Agile development team in supporting MDOT’s application portfolio. The role involves full-cycle software development—analyzing requirements, coding, testing, deploying, and maintaining robust enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have strong back-end Java expertise combined with front-end development proficiency and a passion for building responsive, accessible applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in Agile development activities including planning, coding, testing, code reviews, and documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers, application owners, and team leads to define and implement technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain Java-based back-end systems using Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, and Oracle databases.
• Build responsive and accessible UI components using JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and related libraries.
• Partner with UI/UX teams to ensure adherence to modern design and accessibility standards.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software issues in development and production.
• Ensure applications comply with accessibility standards such as ADA, WCAG 2.0, and Section 508.
• Assist in knowledge sharing and provide guidance to junior developers when necessary.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise software development with Java using IDEs like Eclipse or JBoss Developer Studio.
• 5+ years of experience with JavaScript, front-end frameworks, and CSS.
• 4+ years of experience with Java 8.
• 5+ years working with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Data.
• 5+ years of experience with JPA/Hibernate.
• 5+ years of experience with HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, and DataTables.
• 4+ years of experience with jQuery and jQuery UI.
• 4+ years of experience with Oracle 12C or Oracle 19C.
• 5+ years working in Agile/Scrum teams.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Experience with React.js for front-end development.
• Exposure to JBoss Enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with SQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience with Log4j, JUnit, and Apache Tiles.
• Background in reporting tools such as Jasper Reports, Crystal Reports, or Business Objects.
• Understanding of accessibility standards including ADA, WCAG 2.0, and Section 508.
