As a Computer Programmer, you will support and enhance the business systems used across our manufacturing and shipping facility. The role primarily involves COBOL development, system support, and process improvement to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient flow of information across multiple systems. Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with office and factory personnel to analyze existing processes and develop automated solutions that streamline daily operations.
- Develop data validation and restriction functions to ensure data accuracy and integrity at the point of entry.
- Monitor, research, and troubleshoot data exchanges between internal and corporate IT systems to identify errors, missing files, or incompatibilities.
- Modify and enhance system processes to ensure reliable and timely data transfer between systems.
- Troubleshoot and correct system or data issues that cannot be resolved by end users.
- Design and maintain system forms for custom document generation.
- Assist users with label design and creation for manufacturing and shipping processes.
- Manage user accounts, including assigning appropriate security permissions.
- Configure peripherals for use with COBOL-based systems when new equipment is installed (e.g., printers, scanners).
- Collaborate with corporate IT teams to promote best practices, system consistency, and operational efficiency across divisions.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills with the ability to support and enhance existing systems with high attention to detail. COBOL experience preferred.
- Eagerness and ability to learn quickly and understand financial and manufacturing workflows.
- Service-oriented mindset with the ability to support users at all technical levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Experience with AcuCOBOL development software is a plus.
- Experience with INFOR M3 is a plus for future system development initiatives.
After an initial on-site training period, remote or hybrid work arrangements may be available. On-site presence is strongly encouraged and will be required when operational needs arise.
