Job summary

IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law is seeking a Programme Implementation and Outreach Associate to support the Forest and Grasslands Team in Washington, D.C. You will help implement projects, advance outreach, and craft communications materials for diverse audiences.

The role involves coordinating events, updating online content, and building partnerships with governments and stakeholders to promote conservation and sustainable development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, natural resources management, forestry, conservation sciences, sustainable development, environmental policy, or a similar field.
• 1 year of relevant experience in conservation, science communication, or project coordination.
• Demonstrated ability for scientific writing and communicating complicated technical issues to a wide range of audiences and cultures.
• Experience with Canva, InDesign, or other graphic design software is required.
• Experience managing social media or webpages is required.
• Experience organizing in-person and/or virtual events and workshops is required.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team with tight deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with proficiency in English; knowledge of French, Spanish, or another language is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Advance engagement with the Rio Conventions through strategic engagement and dialogue.
• Support outreach and knowledge management, updating websites, knowledge repositories, social media, and project databases.
• Assist in delivering virtual and in-person events and webinars.
• Develop written and visual communications materials for internal and external audiences.
• Perform research and writing tasks to support communications assets for FGT and its portfolio.
• Support visibility and outreach planning for FGT and its projects.
• Produce and distribute informational materials highlighting milestones and stories.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange among project stakeholders digitally and on platforms.
• Coordinate with country and regional teams for stakeholder engagement tasks.
• Support day-to-day operations aligned with FGT strategy and IUCN work.
• Foster partnerships with governments, project partners, IUCN country offices and members.
