Job summary

IUCN is seeking a Programme Implementation and Outreach Associate to support the Forest and Grasslands Team in Washington, D.C. The role focuses on project implementation, stakeholder engagement, and outreach activities to advance conservation work across forests, grasslands, and drylands.

The incumbent will help develop communication materials, support events, and strengthen partnerships with governments, donors, and communities while coordinating with country teams and IUCN members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, natural resources management, forestry, conservation sciences, sustainable development, environmental policy, or related field.
• 1 year of relevant experience in conservation, science communication, or project coordination.
• Experience writing for diverse audiences and communicating complex topics clearly.
• Experience with Canva, InDesign, or other graphic design software is required.
• Experience managing social media or webpages and organizing events/workshops.

Responsibilities

• Support engagement with Rio Conventions through outreach and stakeholder dialogue.
• Assist in outreach, knowledge management, and updating project websites and repositories.
• Help prepare and deliver virtual and in-person events and webinars with partners.
• Develop written and visual communications for internal and external audiences.
• Contribute to research and writing to support communications assets for FGT.
• Support visibility and outreach planning for FGT and its projects.
• Distribute informational materials highlighting milestones and success stories.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange among project stakeholders through digital platforms.
• Assist with project coordination and delivery with country and regional teams.
• Support day-to-day operational and communications needs aligned with FGT strategies.
