DCF Family Services is recruiting a Program Technician III to join our Adoption Unit! The Adoption Unit is a small team focused on cases from the time adoption is identified as the case plan goal through adoption finalization and continues support until the child reaches adulthood. This position prepares cases for adoption finalization for all adoptions in half of the state's districts. It responds to adoption inquiries from the public, oversees file maintenance and the tracking and control of all cases with a goal of adoption or guardianship, including custody, conditional custody, and Interstate Compact cases. This role provides pre-adoptive parents with adoption packets; receives documents from them, offers ongoing support and guidance, and answers their questions throughout the adoption process. This position requests required documentation from other states, when needed, updates department databases, and creates permanent adoption files for their assigned districts. Success in this position requires very strong organizational skills to facilitate receiving, tracking and disseminating a large volume of information. This role requires the ability to accurately interpret laws to determine case status, understand court findings and conclusions, identify errors in legal documents and ensure they are corrected before a case moves forward. It will be crucial for the Program Technician III to maintain strong working relationships with multiple partners such as: court clerks, AAGs, VCIC, the child benefits unit, district office staff, and Lund/Project Family staff, and communicate with them frequently to ensure timely permanence for children.
