To determine intake status and eligibility for sentences prisoners in Virginia jails, and to ensure timely intake of eligible felons to Department of Corrections facilities in compliance with the Code of Virginia.
High school diploma or equivalent Prior office experience. Progressive levels of responsibility in the criminal justice field. Knowledge of the criminal justice process and of agency procedures relating to inmate classification and placement. Knowledge of pertinent sections of the Code of Virginia and of technical terminology associated with criminal records-keeping. Skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed review/analysis of criminal records to determine accuracy and completeness. Demonstrated ability to collect and organize detailed information. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and process a high volume of work while meeting established deadlines. Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision. Good interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communication and listening skills.
Experience dealing with matters related to intake of inmates from jails. Prior experience and familiarity with Virginia CORIS preferred.
