Program Support/Operations Specialist - Department of Justice

The Position:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Program Support/Operations Specialist to support peer review activities for the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). The specialist will collaborate with the Senior Operating Team Lead to recruit, train, assign, and manage a team of recorders for peer review consensus meetings. This role involves editing transcripts, monthly and weekly reports, and grant reviewer reports, performing quality control on recorder-generated consensus comment reports, and working as a recorder and notetaker in peer review consensus meetings. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Co-lead team of OVW recorders, assisting with recorder management, training, scheduling, and recruiting.
  2. Perform quality control on recorder-created peer review consensus reports.
  3. Edit transcripts of information sessions and reviewer reports of OJP and NIJ grant applications.
  4. Act as a recorder and create written reports of grant reviewer comments to assist DOJ in funding decisions.
  5. Facilitate peer review consensus meetings and encourage discussion on grant applications.
  6. Provide planning, logistics, travel, and onsite support for OVW Peer Review Meetings.
  7. Download OVW solicitation applications from Just Grants for peer reviewers.
  8. Ensure grant applications meet basic minimum requirements and prepare related packets.

  • At least 1 year of program/operations support experience, preferably in government or non-profit sectors.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred qualifications include experience with the Department of Justice or similar agencies, knowledge of compliance and regulations, familiarity with the Violence Against Women Act, grant writing or management experience, and knowledge of DOJ policies.

The Fine Print:

  • Salary range: $50,000 - $90,000, depending on experience and contract length.
  • Expected travel: 0-10%, possibly more based on needs.
  • Full-time, contractual position for 6 months.
  • Hybrid work schedule in Washington D.C.
  • Physical functions include sitting for extended periods and light carrying (<15 pounds).
