The City of Livonia, MI is seeking a Finance/Accounting Program Supervisor to process requisitions, close purchase orders, and assist with budgeting and reporting. You will support staff on purchasing procedures and financial software while handling confidential information.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship or right to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Option A: 3+ years of full-time clerical work with supervisory or project management experience and a 2-year Associate degree; or
  • Option B: 5+ years of full-time clerical work with supervisory or project management experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Enterprise Financial Management system preferred.
  • Ability to work in a confidential environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process requisitions and close purchase orders.

  • Organize budget materials for budgets; assist in year-end procedures; prepare reports.
  • Research and respond to FOIA requests; analyze and organize office operations.
  • Maintain purchase order and vendor files; audition and maintain copiers; coordinate copier leases.
  • Answer telephones; bind budget books and contracts; prepare correspondence for Finance Director and staff.
  • Assist with Accounting Division duties as needed; act as the Program Supervisor's primary P-Card administrator.

Job description

$66,664.00 - 77,521.60 Annually

  • Starting Salary: $66,664.00
  • After Six Months of Successful Employment: $67,891.20
  • After One Year of Successful Employment: $69,118.40
  • Maximum salary is achieved after four successful years of employment.

NOTE: Annual salary adjustments may also occur, based on collective bargaining agreements.

Duties include processing requisitions; closing purchase orders; providing assistance to other employees throughout the City in regard to purchasing procedures and financial software; organizing budget materials for the preliminary and final budgets; assisting in year-end procedures; preparing reports; researching information; assisting in fulfilling FOIA requests; analyzing and organizing office operations; maintaining the purchase order files; maintaining the vendor file; audition and maintaining the copier for the department; surveying and coordinating leases for City copiers; answering the telephone; binding budget books and contract; preparing correspondence and reports for Finance Director and other Finance/Accounting personnel; assisting with Accounting Division duties as needed; primary P-Card administrator and performing other duties as assigned. The Program Supervisor works with confidential information and must be discreet in sharing such information with others on an as-needed basis.

Applicant Requirements
  1. Be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
  2. Have a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate; and
  3. Have either:
    • A minimum of three (3) years full-time, paid clerical work with experience in supervising activities or project management with a two-year Associates Degree; OR
    • A minimum of five (5) years full-time paid clerical work with experience in supervising activities or project management; and
  4. A minimum of three (3) years experience using Microsoft Office, particularly in Word and Excel; and
  5. Experience with Enterprise Financial Management system preferred; and
  6. Have the ability to work in a confidential environment.

NOTE: Unofficial proof of college transcripts must be submitted at the time of application. Official high school diploma or valid equivalency and official degree or official transcripts must be submitted at the time of interview.

Parts of Examination and Weights

Written Test - 30% Performance Test - 20% Interview - 50%

NOTE: Up to 12 applicants who score highest on the written and performance tests will be invited to interview. The required minimum typing speed is 45 words per minute.

NOTE: Candidates must pass the written test, performance test, and interview in order to be placed on the eligible list.
