Job summary

Elk River Independent School District 728 is seeking a part-time Water Safety Instructor for Community Education, with year-round shifts including Summers and School year availability. Assignments include greeting families, teaching swim skills, and maintaining pool facilities.

The role requires a WSI certification, comfort in water, and a passion for working with children. Training and scheduling span mornings to evenings and Sundays, with up to 35 hours weekly in summer and 2–7 hours weekly

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification (must be kept updated and submitted annually).
• Comfort in water and ability to perform basic skills.
• Desire to work with kids.
• Concussion training required (online, provided by employer); CPR/AED and First Aid training recommended.
• Know and understand the Red Cross Swimming Lessons Program (skills taught in each level, and the requirements to pass the class).

Responsibilities

• Greet families as they arrive to the pool.
• Demonstrate skills to be performed, such as floats, glides, strokes, etc.
• Fill out cards for students informing them of pass/fail status.
• Help get equipment ready for classes/clean up after class.
• Keep the facility clean, including pool, pool area, and locker rooms.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as needed.
