Job summary

Anoka County’s Public Health and Environmental Services seeks a Program Specialist in Recycling and Resource Solutions for a temporary, in-office role at the Field Operations Building in Andover, MN. Evening/weekend work may be required; hybrid options may be available.

Responsibilities include supporting solid waste programs, data analysis, budgeting, and collaboration with county partners to advance waste prevention and reuse initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental protection, sustainability, science, planning, public administration, business administration, or related field.
• Two years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience in solid waste management, recycling, or waste prevention.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and guidance to Program Specialist - Commercial Programs for Solid Waste Management Charge tasks.
• Help manage day-to-day operations of waste prevention and material reuse programming.
• Monitor data quality and evaluate data for program improvements.
• Lead efforts to develop and implement strategic waste prevention and material reuse solutions.
• Collaborate with partners, residents, and commercial sectors to prevent waste and promote reuse before recycling or disposal.
• Create reports and charts communicating data trends to leadership.
