Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT, seeks an Enterprise program representative to drive performance initiatives for the Columbia and Virginia programs, partnering with design, engineering and NAVSEA to streamline requirements and reduce costs.

This high-visibility role supports cross-program strategies including Cost Reduction, Continuous Improvement, Technology Deployment and Span Reduction to improve manufacturability and affordability of Columbia and Virginia Class programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree required.
  • 4+ years of cumulative experience in Program Office, Process Engineering, Design, Engineering, Planning, Operations, and/or Test.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to challenge technical requirements and approval authorities with EB Engineering and NAVSEA Technical Warrant holders.
  • Drive an expansion of the producibility portion of the cost and span reduction portfolio by working with Operations and Engineering SMEs to identify and execute opportunities.
  • Coordinating efforts to evaluate efforts to streamline technical requirements in the test program
  • Interfacing frequently and independently with NAVSEA stakeholders to update project and strategy status and progress
  • Preparation of materials for various programmatic and technical reviews with NAVSEA stakeholders and EB upper management
  • Drive the technical organizations towards attaining enterprise goals.

Job description

The Enterprise Planning Team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, Enterprise program representative who can operate with minimal supervision and possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills to join the team and drive performance initiatives to attain the Navy desired 1 Columbia and 2 Virginia annual production rate. This role will lead efforts with design and engineering to identify opportunities to streamline technical requirements and engineering designs to reduce submarine construction costs and spans.

This high-visibility role also supports high profile, cross-program enterprise strategies that include Cost Reduction, Continuous Improvement, Technology Deployment and Span Reduction tasking, which is aimed at improving the manufacturability and affordability of the Columbia and Virginia Class Programs by implementing changes to the existing ship design, manufacturing processes, or businesses practices. This team regularly interfaces with Design and Engineering, VCS Program Office, CLB Program Office, Design Build, Groton Operations, Quonset Point Operations, Materials Management, EB upper management, and Navy customers (including Technical Warrant Holders).

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree
  • 4+ years of cumulative experience in Program Office, Process Engineering, Design, Engineering, Planning, Operations, and/or Test
Preferred
  • BS (or higher) degree in Engineering
  • 10 years of cumulative experience at Electric Boat in Program Office, Process Engineering, Design, Engineering, Planning, Operations, and/or Test
  • System or Component related Engineering Experience
  • Experience working with NAVSEA technical codes and technical warrant holders.
  • Experience supporting major construction evolutions or other relevant operations experience
Skills
  • Well-developed organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Experience with developing and executing strategies
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office Tools (especially, Microsoft Excel)
