Job description

Location: California Remote (Los Angeles County-based preferred)

Commitment: Contract

Start Date: Fall 2025

About Bilingual Generation & ImmSchools:

Bilingual Generation aims to help children with bilingualism in their bones learn, retain, and connect with their heritage languages and cultures. We are a team of parents, educators, and researchers, who were directly impacted by linguistic and cultural oppression and who work to ensure that the gifts of bilingualism are passed onto the next generation. Through capacity building, narrative change work, and innovative learning tools, we equip families, educators, and schools to better serve and celebrate emergent bilingual students.

ImmSchools was founded in 2018 by two immigrant women with more than 20 years of combined experience as educators working at the intersection of immigration and education. Our initial vision for ImmSchools was simple: to support more educators in creating safe and welcoming spaces in schools that we and our families wished we had when we were students. Today, ImmSchools partners with school districts to create more welcoming and safe schools to meet the needs of K-12 immigrant students, their families and educators.

Role Overview:

We’re seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Program & Partnerships Lead (independent contract), to support the design and delivery of programs that uplift immigrant communities and multilingual learners. In this role, you’ll collaborate across our team to create engaging learning experiences for families and educators, lead community-based sessions, and help shape resources that bridge home and school. You’ll play a key role in supporting immigrant families as they navigate the K–12 system, while helping educators build more inclusive, culturally affirming environments. This IC is expected to live in California (Los Angeles County-based preferred) and the work is projected to start in this fall.

What You’ll Do:

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and implement bilingual (Spanish/English) programs that empower immigrant families and support emergent bilingual children
  • Co-create learning materials, workshops, and resources for both caregivers and educators
  • Co-develop content to reflect the cultural, linguistic, and lived experiences of immigrant and multilingual communities

Training and Professional Development:

  • Facilitate professional development sessions for educators and school staff focused on creating immigrant-friendly school cultures
  • Translate research-based practices into actionable tools for PreK–2nd grade educators
  • Promote inclusive practices that support the academic and emotional wellbeing of multilingual students

Community Engagement:

  • Foster partnerships with local stakeholders, LEAs, district, and school leaders to strategically steward and pilot this work
  • Lead community-centered workshops and focus groups with families, educators, and partner organizations
  • Build relationships with immigrant communities to gather input and co-create resources

Who You Are:

  • Strategic thinker and problem solver who can help us think about launching and scaling this work in a California context
  • A skilled facilitator with 5+ years of experience working with immigrant, Latine, or multilingual communities
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong communication and writing skills in both
  • Have experience with dual language, bilingual, or newcomer programs
  • Passionate about educational equity, language preservation, and intergenerational learning
  • Experienced in developing curriculum, resources, or programs that reflect community voices
  • Comfortable leading with empathy, clarity, and cultural humility in both virtual and in-person spaces
  • Are based in California and able to travel locally and nationally for events and program implementation

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have experience navigating or supporting others through the U.S. K–12 school system
  • Are based in LA-county
  • Are familiar with participatory design, storytelling for impact, or advocacy-focused education
  • Have teaching or school-based experience with early childhood education, multilingual education, or newcomer programs
  • Have experience as a leader or administrator in K-12 public education settings

Compensation:

This is a contract role with an hourly rate of $75-$100/hour depending on experience, with an anticipated 40-50 hours per month. There will be opportunities to grow with the team.
