Job summary

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) seeks a Program Officer for Southeast Asia to manage grants and coordinate programming in Thailand and the Philippines. This hybrid role is based in Washington, DC, with a focus on democracy support across the region.

You will monitor grant implementation, prepare funding recommendations for leadership, and engage with grantees, partners, and regional analysts. A bachelor’s degree and 4–7 years’ nonprofit experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, International Development, or a related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 4–7 years of relevant professional experience in international development, democracy support, human rights, or a related field.
• Significant nonprofit experience and knowledge of program evaluation techniques.
• Ability to travel within Southeast Asia as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage grants and coordinate Southeast Asia programming, focusing on Thailand and the Philippines.
• Monitor grant implementation and evaluate grantee progress.
• Prepare funding recommendations for NED leadership.
• Monitor regional political developments to inform strategies.
• Build relationships with donors, partners, and regional orgs.
• Travel to monitor grantees and identify funding opportunities.
• Mentor junior staff and collaborate with Asia team.
