PROJECT SUMMARY:
MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics is a USAID funded program initiated in September 2020 and active through June 2026. This project expands awareness of, equitable access to, and appropriate use of quality, voluntary surgical maternal health (MH) and family planning (FP) services essential to reducing maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Officer provides programmatic, administrative, and technical support to MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics implementation. They are responsible for generating, synthesizing, and disseminating evidence and learning related to the program implementation at global and country levels, providing guidance and support to project activities including monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Co-author and facilitate production and/or updating materials (briefs, articles, reports, curricula/manuals, job aids, or presentations).
  • Collaborate with U.S. and field-based technical and program staff to produce effective and timely program products.
  • Manage MOMENTUM Safe Surgery’s global learning agenda.
  • Represent the project during MOMENTUM-wide technical working group meetings.
  • Support quarterly, semi-annual, and annual global and country-specific reports.
  • Ensure project results and learning are highlighted through strategic external communications channels.
  • Monitor progress on all MERL-team led activities in the core workplan.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to country team staff.
  • Travel as needed to provide technical assistance.
  • Provide guidance to interns/consultants as relevant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate degree in public health, social sciences, public administration, or other health-related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience supporting or implementing international health and development projects.
  • Prior work experience in an organization focused on reproductive health or related areas.
  • Excellent English written and speaking skills (native); French skills preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 15% or the equivalent of 8 weeks annually.
  • Highly skilled in technical writing and editing.
  • Experience with knowledge product development.
  • Experience in program monitoring and reporting.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
