OpenAI Foundation invites a Program Officer to drive catalytic deployments in civil society. Located in San Francisco with a hybrid work model, the role combines philanthropic investment, strategy, and operation leadership.

The position focuses on sourcing grants, evaluating impact, and building partnerships across researchers, nonprofits, and funders to accelerate AI-enabled social good.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit, philanthropy, or government sectors.
• Ability to reason about AI capabilities and deployment risks in civil society.
• Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Ability to identify opportunities and make strong recommendations.
• Bias toward execution and ownership of outcomes.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to strategy and prioritization of Catalytic Deployments; over time own areas within it.
• Source, evaluate, and recommend grants and funding opportunities; conduct diligence on orgs and leaders.
• Support a growing portfolio of grants with clear prioritization and strong follow-through.
• Engage with researchers, nonprofits, academic centers, public-interest orgs, data platforms, funders, and grantees.
• Identify gaps and develop ideas for new initiatives, partnerships, or field-building actions.
• Develop and launch new initiatives from concept to implementation; convene stakeholders as needed.
• Represent the Foundation in external conversations to build credibility and source opportunities.
• Write internal recommendations and strategy memos to support decisions.
