The Illinois State Board of Education is seeking a Program Monitor (Principal Consultant) to coordinate investigations, support compliance efforts, and promote safe, inclusive schools in Illinois.

Reporting to the Director, you will partner with regional offices and serve as a BEACON parent navigator while researching topics like discipline, bullying, and inclusion to inform policy and practice.

Competenze

• Master's degree or equivalent in Education, Social Work, School Psychology, Special Education or related field.
• Two years of relevant professional experience in education settings (public school districts, ROEs, etc.).
• Knowledge and application of the Illinois School Code.

Program Monitor (Principal Consultant #1966)

Duties

Reporting to the Director, responds to and participates in the investigation of inquiries and complaints from parents, students, community members and others; participates in implementation of programs and processes that protect students, support inclusion and ensure safe and healthy learning environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responds to and participates in the investigation of inquiries and concerns from regional offices of education, intermediate service centers, districts, schools, parents, students, the general public and all other relevant stakeholders with respect to all areas under the department's purview.
• Provides assistance to agency staff who have questions with respect to compliance issues in program areas to ensure effective cross-department collaboration on common issues.
• Provides general support and technical assistance to parents and students with respect to ensuring that the needs of the whole child are met for each and every student in Illinois.
• Serves as a parent navigator in the BEACON system.
• Under identified parameters, researches, collects, analyzes, and disseminates information on topics of priority for the department including, but not limited to, student discipline, bullying, inclusion and time-out and physical restraint.
• Under identified parameters, supports work including, but not limited to discipline, bullying, bi-annual school district bullying policy update submission, racism free schools law and bullying data collection.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education, Social Work, School Psychology, Special Education or Education related field, or, Bachelor's degree in one of the listed fields plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
• Two years of relevant professional experience (in addition to education requirements) in a public school district, regional office of education, special education cooperative, area vocational center, or a state or federal education agency.
• Experience performing research in and application of the mandates of the Illinois School Code.
• Thorough knowledge of the Illinois School Code.

Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $64,322 - $81,284

Full Salary Range: $64,322 - $109,467

Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
