The Aging and Disabilities Department (AD) serves the growing population of older adults, dependent adults, and individuals with disabilities in Los Angeles County. The department offers a broad range of services aimed at fostering dignity, independence, and overall well‑being. Through compassionate and intentional support, AD ensures that individuals can live fulfilling lives within their communities, maintaining the highest quality of life possible. We partner with non‑profits, community‑based organizations, commissions, and other government agencies to provide services such as social, educational and recreational services, training and education programmes, accessibility services, wellness and nutrition programmes, emergency preparedness and response programmes, home‑delivery meal services, in‑home visiting programmes, crisis intervention, legal services involving fraud, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other issues that pertain to the older and dependent adults in the community.

One (1) year of experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Project Supervisor, Community Services*, or higher, responsible for the development and/or implementation of community development and older adult services or related programs**.
Three (3) years of experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Community Center Director I* or higher, one (1) year of which must include supervision during the last three (3) years, participating in the development and/or implementation of community development and older adult services or related programs** or in departmental administrative support functions.
Three (3) years of experience in a highly responsible administrative capacity**** analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems of organization, financial services, human resources, or information technology, one (1) year of which must have been at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Administrative Services Manager III***** directing or assisting in directing an administrative, human resources, financial services, or information technology program unit in the service of Los Angeles County.
* Project Supervisor, Community Services is defined as having responsibility for supervising a special project involving the development and implementation of service programs that require direct community participation. Qualifying experience at this level must include responsibility for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and/or evaluating community‑based service programs, rather than solely supervising staff, volunteers, events, or routine program activities.
** Community development and older adult services or related programs refers to organized programs designed to address community needs or provide services to older adults and other targeted populations. Such programs may include, but are not limited to, community engagement and outreach, older adult services, social or supportive services, health and wellness programs, educational or recreational programs, resource and referral services, or other programs intended to improve access to services and community well‑being.
*** Community Center Director I is defined as serving as the administrative head of a diversified, multi‑service community center or older adult services center.
**** Highly responsible administrative capacity is defined as administrative work involving substantial responsibility for analyzing, evaluating, developing, and/or recommending solutions to complex organizational, financial services, human resources, or information technology problems, policies, procedures, programs, or operations. Qualifying experience must require the exercise of significant independent judgment, analytical ability, discretion, and responsibility in making recommendations or decisions that affect departmental programs or operations.
***** Administrative Services Manager III is defined as directing a section composed of multiple units responsible for providing administrative services that directly impact the management of major departmental programs and operations.
