Job summary

MWRA in Chelsea, MA seeks a seasoned civil engineer to lead engineering and design efforts under the Metropolitan Tunnel Redundancy Program. You will manage planning, design, permitting, and schedules, coordinating with consultants and MWRA divisions to deliver complex tunnel projects on time and within budget.

The role requires a bachelor’s in relevant engineering, 7+ years of design or construction management, supervisory experience, and preferred licensure (PE, PMP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 7+ years of civil engineering design, project management and/or construction management.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Massachusetts PE license preferred.
• PMI PMP certification preferred.
• Massachusetts Class D license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manages planning and design phases of projects under the Tunnel Redundancy Program with detailed plans and schedules.
• Oversees construction management including pre-construction, bid assistance, and project controls.
• Supervises multi-disciplinary design and construction work with independent judgment.
• Performs engineering analysis and prepares project reports.
• Reviews consultants' work on tunnel systems, hydraulic analysis, and contract documents.
• Ensures projects are on budget and on time with approved work plans and resources.
• Participates in consultant selection, scope development, and contract award recommendations.
