Job description

About this role:

Do you thrive in innovative, design-driven environments with a high level of both accountability and trust? Are you passionate about delivering elegant solutions with the right amount of engineering rigor? Are you seeking a leadership role where you can take initiative? If so – we want to hear from you!

Fuse is looking for a Program Manager to lead various Department of Defense customers in the development, integration and demonstration of advanced communications and networking technologies onto airborne platforms - driving long term growth for these business areas. This role will oversee and manage all aspects of project execution and provide strategic guidance through all phases of development while ensuring that warfighter needs and requirements are integrated into our solutions. Our work focuses on DoD network and tactical communications providing a variety of communications abilities to TACAIR USN, USAF, and USMC platforms including tactical data links, line-of-sight and beyond line-of-sight radios, and crossbanding of IP data. This engineering-minded Program Manager must be passionate about enhancing operator capabilities with user-focused communication, network, and software systems.

Warfighter-focused design and development is at the heart of Fuse processes. Throughout Fuse development our experienced team applies the best practices of commercial design-think, coupled to the DoD systems engineering framework. The coupling of commercially proven design with rigorous systems engineering gives Fuse an ability to rapidly design, develop and field solutions well inside of typical military design cycles. With an Agile approach to development (for both software and hardware) Fuse rapidly innovates, putting creative concepts into action, and refining those concepts through hands on test, user evaluation, and iteration.

What you’ll do:

  • Create and maintain strong working relationships with partners, customers, and industry stakeholders to expand our various airborne platform Business Areas
  • Deliver innovative software, network, and hardware solutions that enhance network and IP-based communications
  • Build our current system portfolios to expand to additional platforms and services
  • Ensure cost, schedule, and technical requirements are met for all projects within the portfolio
  • Work alongside engineering teams to optimize exchange of key metrics and resolve road blocks
  • Incorporate real-world operators into our development process in order to understand needs and requirements from an end-user point of view
  • Provide input for strategic growth of the portfolio through project planning and proposals
  • Drive strategic growth across your business area
  • Insert focus on fixed wing tactics and C2 integration into our system demonstration and experimentation
  • Ensure system development environment and system attributes align with DoD security requirements
  • Participate in demonstration planning with customers, engineering teams, and overarching experiment managers
  • Execute technical demonstrations
  • Oversee critical system integration and field events to meet system objectives and customer expectations

We are looking for:

Ideal candidates will have experience in technical leadership and early product development including requirements development, system design, system integration and test for complex technical systems.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field of study or Bachelor’s degree with related experience in an engineering field
  • 8-10 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing and implementing technical systems
  • Experience managing various projects and leading teams in the engineering development, testing and deployment of complex systems
  • Experience with DoD R&D process and life cycle management
  • Operational or developmental background with USN TACAIR platforms and systems
  • Experience with NAVAIR PEO (T)
  • Working knowledge and experience with military networking systems
  • Understanding of system test process including experience producing test plans and procedures
  • Familiarity with Agile development and professional SW development environments
  • U.S. citizen
  • Current US SECRET Clearance

Must be a nimble self-starter who is excited about technology and has the ability to think out of the box and suggest powerful new ideas.
