Job Description:
Title: Program Manager- Professional Development & Training
Position Type: Employee, full-time, exempt
Reports To: Director of Professional Programs
Location: Michigan. Staff work flexible hours and are fully remote.
Function: The Program Manager provides strategic leadership and hands-on management for Michigan AEYC’s professional development programs and training initiatives. This role is crucial in overseeing program implementation, ensuring operational excellence, and contributing to the organization’s mission of support early childhood educators.
Responsibilities: The Program Manager will work with the Director of Professional Programs to perform the following essential functions including but not limited to:
• Program Development & Oversight:
• Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of training programs and events.
• Provide essential logistical and technical support, oversee course development, and conduct evaluations of all training initiatives.
• Assess professional development and training needs within the early childhood field to inform program planning.
• Ensure adherence to program license requirements, established organizational policies, procedures, and funding agreements.
• Event Management:
• Lead and coordinate all aspects of in-person and virtual events, including logistics, registration, vendor management, and onsite execution to ensure successful participant experiences.
• Operations & Fiscal Management:
• Oversee budget spending for assigned programs, procure necessary materials and resources, and ensure all operations remain within budgetary allocations.
• Manage the implementation of programmatic policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate program records and data and coordinate data analysis for program reports and evaluations.
• Team Leadership:
• Supervise program staff in the daily execution of policies and procedures.
• Responsibilities include training new and existing staff, assigning and directing work, assisting with performance appraisals, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
• Provide technical assistance and support to program participants, partners, and other stakeholders involved in delivering programmatic services.
• Organize and execute recruitment efforts for program participants.
• Work with the Director of Marketing and Membership to develop content for
program publications, the Michigan AEYC website, and social media channels. • Cultivate and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with Michigan AEYC program participants and partners.
• Project & Organizational Contribution:
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects and requests with varying deadlines.
• Attend Michigan AEYC programs, events, and meetings as requested.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree. Major or coursework in child development, early childhood education, or related field preferred.
• CMP or similar meeting planning certification preferred.
• Experience in project management, fiscal management, staff supervision, and program administration.
• Proficiency with computer technology, including database management, learning management systems, Zoom, Microsoft Office- especially Excel, and data analysis.
• Experience with video and image editing software preferred.
• Experience with MiRegistry and the Michigan Online Educator System preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
• Ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations.
• Ability to travel as required for onsite coordination of training and events.
Additional Requirements:
• Prior to employment, candidate must pass a drug screening test and undergo a reference and security check.
Compensation: Michigan AEYC is committed to providing our employees with a comprehensive and

• Competitive starting salary between $69,000-$76,000 annually.
