Job description

  • Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for an energetic, self-starting, Program Manager in the Maintenance and Modernization Operation to be the primary point of contact at our Norfolk, VA Location.
Job Description
  • Responsible for the planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring, controlling, and documenting all aspects of assigned programs.
  • Responsible for compliance with all contract requirements.
  • Responsibilities include monitor and control progress of all projects executed in the Norfolk and San Diego areas and any other areas covered by the Program, manage all personnel assigned to the program in all locations, hire additional resources as needed to execute all work in the locations within the program which include any fleet concentration area and organically grow Valkyrie’s operation.
  • Provide oversight of all activities executed under your program in all locations. Control schedule, budget, and performance objectives across multiple task projects.
  • Develop and assign all manpower resources to fulfill all requirements taking into consideration resources, materials, and the period of performance requirements.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all contracts within budget allocations in accordance with the Plan of Action/Milestones (POA/M).
  • Be the Primary point of contact for the Corrosion Control Operations Manager in providing program oversight and status information.
  • Receive and disseminate all contractual information to the appropriate personnel to support contract deliverables.
  • Promote and build customer relations through frequent communication.
  • Build programs assigned to you. Identify and pursue new customers, programs, and business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement corrosion control programs and strategies.
  • Conduct corrosion risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures
  • Oversee the inspection and monitoring of corrosion control systems
  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure proper installation and maintenance of corrosion control measures
  • Review and analyze corrosion data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to corrosion control
  • Train and mentor staff on corrosion control best practices
  • Prepare reports and presentations on corrosion control activities and results
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulations related to corrosion control
  • Inspect surfaces to be prepared and identify any imperfections or damage
  • Clean surfaces using appropriate tools and materials
Qualifications
  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering (ME/EE), or Business Management from an accredited college or university and have at least 5 years of program manager experience with shipboard projects involving the operation, maintenance, repair, testing, modification, upgrading, installation, and alteration of Naval vessel and small craft systems. (Additional years of Program Manager experience can be substituted for bachelor’s degree requirement).
  • Must have 7 years’ experience as a project manager.
  • Must have at least 2 years of direct experience in a shipboard environment.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience with ship projects executed in public and private shipyards.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in corrosion control or related field
  • Must have Strong knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and control methods
  • Must have Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Must have Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have Previous experience in surface preparation or a related field
  • Must have Knowledge of painting techniques and materials
  • Must have Previous experience in painting or a related field
  • Must have Knowledge of different types of paint and their applications
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and NAVSEA requirements is preferred.
Security Requirements
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to get one.
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional travel-up to 10%.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
