Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

This position is responsible for the implementation of major programs to include predictive maintenance program, water treatment program, transformer reliability program, incident investigation program, training program, and other similar major programs. For example, the PdM program includes day to day management of the test and maintenance fleet services contractor(s), interpretation of the test results, and recommendations to Calpine Management and Calpine Engineering of critical items that are being monitored. Coordinates and monitors the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of company programs. Responsibilities also include aiding in the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes and coordinating preparations of proposals, plans, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts. The programs managed by the Program Manager are to provide consistent implementation of the program throughout Calpine's Fleet, improving operational reliability and efficiency. Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules develops solutions to program problems and ensures programs are consistently delivered and maintained. Provides technical guidance to other departments within Calpine. Provide technical leadership to both internal and external organizations and entities.

Specific Job Responsibilities
  • Provide overall chemistry monitoring oversight for plant water treatment systems to ensure operational reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Maintain cooling tower chemistry oversight, including monitoring treatment programs, reviewing chemistry trends, and identifying corrective actions as needed.
  • Track and oversee chemical usage, inventory, and consumption trends, ensuring proper application, optimization, and compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable permit conditions, including water, wastewater, stormwater, recycled water, and air quality requirements.
  • Serve as the primary laboratory interface for sampling coordination, analytical testing requirements, chain-of-custody management, and communication of laboratory results.
  • Conduct and coordinate water sampling and water quality testing at various stages of plant operations, ensuring representative sample collection and accurate analytical results.
  • Perform chemical analyses and evaluate test results to verify conformity with operational, environmental, quality, and reliability standards.
  • Document, investigate, and communicate deviations from expected operating parameters and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Storm Water Visual Inspections and prepare required inspection documentation and regulatory reports.
  • Perform Recycled Water User Inspections and develop associated compliance reports and corrective action recommendations.
  • Draft, review, and submit required monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual environmental and compliance reports to designated regulatory agencies and departments.
  • Perform Air Mercury Data Analysis, evaluate trends, and support environmental reporting and compliance initiatives.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in technical engineering and or chemical field of study.
  • Requires 3+ years’ experience.
Salary Information
  • Salary Range - $126,246 to $160,963/ per year
