Program Manager – Energy Storage Systems

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States

Description

The Program Manager will lead the end-to-end development of Energy Storage System product, focusing on coordinating cross‑functional teams and external partners to drive successful development, integration, and deployment. This role requires strong leadership to align stakeholders, mitigate risks, and maintain project timelines and budgets. The ideal candidate thrives in complex, multi‑vendor environments and has a passion for clean energy technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Facilitate collaboration among diverse parties, including battery suppliers, inverter suppliers, field service and commissioning teams, system integrator, and internal cross‑functional teams (e.g., engineering, procurement, quality assurance, and operations).
  • Project Planning and Execution: Develop and maintain comprehensive project plan, timelines, milestones, and budgets. Track progress using tools like Gantt charts, risk registers, and performance metrics to ensure the program stays on schedule and within scope.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks across the supply chain and integration processes. Implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address issues proactively.
  • Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders. Prepare regular status updates, dashboards, and executive reports on project health, deliverables, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Integration Oversight: Manage the technical and operational integration of ESS components, ensuring compatibility between batteries, inverters, and other subsystems. Coordinate testing, validation, and commissioning activities to meet regulatory and performance standards.
  • Resource Allocation: Optimize resource utilization across teams. Negotiate with suppliers and partners to resolve conflicts and secure commitments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze project outcomes to identify lessons learned. Drive process enhancements for future programs, incorporating feedback from all involved parties.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations (e.g., UL, IEC), and environmental guidelines throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field); Master's degree or PMP certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management, ideally in the energy sector, renewable technologies, or complex hardware/software integration projects.
  • Proven track record managing multi‑vendor projects, with experience in energy storage, batteries, inverters, or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of energy storage technologies, including lithium‑ion batteries, power conversion systems, and grid integration.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide.
