Avangrid is seeking a senior leader to develop, maintain, and oversee emergency planning across its organizations. The role emphasizes compliance, training readiness, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure robust plans for real-world events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree + 7 years experience or Associate's degree + 10 years experience.
  • 7 years relevant experience required.
  • Experience facilitating cross functional teams through a planning process.
  • Strong experience with project management.
  • Emergency Management experience in Utility or Critical Infrastructure setting preferred.
  • Master's degree in Planning or Emergency Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Avangrid emergency plans.
  • Ensure plans are up-to-date and available for training, exercises, and real-world events.
  • Lead the Emergency Preparedness Planning program across Avangrid companies.
  • Ensure Emergency Response Plans meet compliance requirements.
  • Execute deliberate planning processes to update existing plans or develop new plans.
  • Design plans that are effective for training and executable during emergencies.
  • Coordinate with training, exercise, and operations staff to evaluate plans and incorporate lessons learned and corrective actions.
  • Track plan inventories and maintenance schedules to meet external compliance deadlines and internal requirements.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops, discussions, meetings, and planning sessions.
  • Manage multiple projects and stakeholders to accomplish program goals.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, contracts, and expenses.
  • Develop clear communications materials and presentations for technical and executive audiences.
  • Collaborate with program staff and support other team areas as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies outside normal business hours.
  • Travel as needed to support day-to-day operations and emergencies.

Job description

  • Use of the FEMA Comprehensive Planning Guide preferred
  • Completion of the Homeland Security courses: IC0S 700, 100, 200, 300, 400 preferred
  • Incident Commander or other position IC0S command and general staff qualifications preferred
  • Understanding and experience implementing programs that follow National Standards for Emergency Management (e.g. FEMA, NIMS, IC0S)
  • Experience working in utility regulatory environment
  • Availability and on-call responsiveness outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to travel as needed throughout the companies
  • Must comply with applicable immigration requirements to legally work in the United States
