Job summary

The Mandel JCC is seeking a Program Manager for Day Camp and Youth Services in Beachwood, OH. This role leads year-round youth programming, supports after-school and camp operations, and drives family engagement with a focus on safety and inclusivity.

During the summer, you will serve as Site Manager for J Day Camp at Halle Park, coordinating daily operations, staff, and program delivery while collaborating with leadership to plan activities and events.

Position Summary

The Program Manager, Day Camp and Youth Services is a key member of the Mandel JCC’s Camping and Youth Services team, responsible for the management, coordination, and day-to-day oversight of year-round youth and family programming. This position supports the successful operation of J Day Camps, after school programs, school-break and vacation programs, youth events, and family engagement initiatives.

Working collaboratively with the Director and cross-functional staff, the Program Manager oversees program implementation, staff supervision, family engagement, operational processes, and continuous program improvement to ensure a high-quality experience for participants. During the summer, this role serves as Site Manager for J Day Camp at Halle Park, overseeing daily camp operations, staff, safety, and program delivery.

Core Expectations

• Promote a consistent, welcoming, responsive relationship-centered approach to youth engagement across camp, after school, school-break, and special-event programming.
• Collaborate across departments to connect families with relevant programs and strengthen year-round participation.

• Support agency-wide initiatives, including the JCC’s Culture of Philanthropy, and communicate the impact and value of youth programming.

Core Responsibilities

• Program Management & Operations
• Manage the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of year-round youth programs, including after school, school-break, camp, and special event offerings.
• Ensure programs are engaging, age-appropriate, well-organized, and aligned with the JCC’s mission and values.
• Coordinate schedules, staffing, facilities, transportation, supplies, enrichment activities, and special events.
• Monitor program effectiveness, participant satisfaction, and operational outcomes, implementing improvements as needed.
• Support registration, communications, recordkeeping, and other administrative functions.
• Recruit, onboard, train, supervise, and support seasonal and year-round staff.
• Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
• Promote a positive team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, safety, and exceptional participant experiences.
• Assist with staffing schedules, payroll coordination, and personnel documentation.
• Camp Site Management
• Serve as Site Manager for J Day Camp at Halle Park during the summer season.
• Oversee daily camp operations, staff supervision, program execution, facility readiness, and participant safety.
• Collaborate with camp leadership to develop schedules, activities, specialty programs, trips, and special events.
• Conduct post-season evaluations and recommend improvements for future camp operations.
• Family & Community Engagement
• Build strong relationships with children, families, schools, and community partners.
• Address parent inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Participate in recruitment, enrollment, community outreach, open houses, and promotional events.
• Collaborate with marketing staff to support program communications and enrollment efforts.
• Assist with budget monitoring, expense management, and achievement of enrollment goals.
• Manage program purchasing, vendor coordination, and assigned financial responsibilities.
• Prepare reports, program evaluations, and operational recommendations.
• Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with JCC policies, ACA standards, licensing requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and proactive supervision.
• Support emergency preparedness, risk management, incident response, and required documentation.
• Maintain current certifications, training requirements, and safety procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and operations of the Camping and Youth Department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, youth development, sports management, or a related field preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in youth or camp programming, program management, or supervisory leadership.
• Experience coordinating programs for children and youth across multiple settings or age groups.
• Demonstrated ability to lead staff, manage multiple priorities, and build productive relationships with families and community partners.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other programs required
• Knowledge of Jewish culture, values, and practices preferred.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and seasonal schedules based on program needs.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary range $44,000-$48,000 per year based on experience; comprehensive benefits package; professional development opportunities; JCC membership and discounted programs for eligible children.
