A Day in the Life: CTOR/Program Manager

The Program Manager/Core Team Operations Representative (CTOR) is the primary ACM OU Operations interface to the New Product Development (NPD) Core team. This highly visible and impactful role in the operations network and for the Acute Care Monitoring business involves leading international teams and being responsible for value stream selection, planning, execution, and implementation of new products.

The Acute Care & Monitoring Operating Unit is committed to excellence in innovation and commercialization to pursue our vision and long-term business growth. The ACM OU organization is refining its product delivery, innovation, and commercialization approach to enable product leadership across all segments of our product portfolio. This requires enhancing our innovation processes and refining our design and delivery approaches to deliver an integrated and comprehensive portfolio that enables product development excellence across ACM.

A Day in The Life Of:
  1. Autonomy: Responsible for small to medium scale programs. The candidate should bring clarity, refine plans, and drive team execution through ambiguously defined situations, with guidance from peers and stakeholders.
  2. Organizational Impact: Owns and ensures overall Operations project execution regarding schedule, budget, resource allocation, risk management, issue resolution, and compliance to internal quality requirements. Leads up to 10 Extended Operations functions including Supply Management, Component Engineering, Process Development, Contract Manufacturing, Self-Manufacturing, Pharma Operations, Packaging & Labelling, Sterilization, Global Supply Chain, and Distribution.
  3. Influence and Complexity: Applies best practices, leads meetings with stakeholders, communicates effectively with management, solves issues through information exchange and influence, and gains cooperation across functions.
  4. Flexibility: Works with international teams, with schedule flexibility and up to 20% domestic/international travel planned in advance.
Program Management and Technical Responsibilities
  • Lead the Extended Operations Team (up to 10 functions) to ensure on-time and on-budget performance through the new product development cycle.
  • Plan scope, budget, and project schedule for assigned work packages.
  • Document and execute project schedules that integrate multiple Operations Functions to achieve milestones.
  • Align scope, cost, resources, and schedule between operations and core team.
  • Lead team meetings as required.
  • Follow compliance processes for New Product Development.
  • Develop risk mitigation and recovery plans with clear action steps.
  • Conduct analysis for process & product improvements.
  • Negotiate requirements to meet program outcomes.
  • Execute Operations Strategies.
  • Apply structured problem methods and predictive engineering principles such as Design for Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and critical questioning abilities.
  • Coach and develop extended Operations team members, providing performance feedback.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Level 8 Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Master’s in Business Administration with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing and launching new Medical Device Products and therapies.
  • Knowledge of FDA, ICH, and IEC standards in medical device development.
  • Experience across the product lifecycle.
  • DRM, DFSS, or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
