The Opportunity...
The Community Solar Program Manager will work under the supervision of the Sr. Director, Equitable Community Solar and play a crucial role in the development and management of community solar programs across assigned states. This position requires a versatile individual who is passionate about expanding solar access, can manage complexity and interface with a wide range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Manage all programmatic aspects of community solar programs such as requests for proposals, contractor support, payments & invoicing, tools and software, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Community Outreach & Equitable Development: Develop and execute strategies that engage local communities to identify community solar project sites and ensure equitable processes and participation.
- Stakeholder Management, Education & Support: Provide education and outreach about community solar program and benefits to a variety of stakeholders including community-based organizations, partners, and low-income solar subscribers to foster partnerships and enhance program outcomes.
- Grant Compliance: Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with Federal grant funding, conducting due diligence, and administering funds.
- Operations & Subscriber Management: Oversee all aspects of subscriber management, including third-party vendors and databases, to ensure high levels of satisfaction, operational efficiency and data accuracy.
- Technical Assistance: Conduct site assessments, energy needs assessments, and other technical support for targeted low-income communities.
What You Need To Bring To This Role...
- Experience managing complex and multi-stakeholder programs or projects, preferably in the solar industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Experience with community outreach and/or equitable partnership-building a plus.
- Salesforce experience
- Ability to inspire collaborative and proactive problem-solving, coupled with flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity, with a strong understanding of the connection between the energy system and economic and environmental justice.
It would be great if you also had…
- Understanding of community solar policies and regulations
- Experience with community solar subscriber management
- Familiarity with Low and Moderate Income (LMI) requirements such as Area Median Income analysis and income verification processes
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band
($80k-90k annually), plus the benefits listed below.
