Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers educational programming including workshops, events, training sessions, competitions, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Creates and supports co-curricular learning experiences that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, and hands-onlearning.
  • Builds relationships with students, faculty, alumni, and campuspartners to expand makerspace engagement and participation.
  • Promotes an accessible, collaborative, and supportive learningenvironment.
  • Coordinates marketing and outreach efforts for makerspaceprograms and events.
  • Assists with curricular integration and academic partnerships as applicable.

Position Purpose

The Program Manager, Makerspace is responsible for the planning,development, coordination, and assessment of educationalprogramming and engagement activities within the Cable Makerspace.This position fosters innovation, experiential learning, andinterdisciplinary collaboration through workshops, events,mentorship opportunities, and curricular partnerships. The ProgramManager works with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and communitypartners to maximize participation and educational impact.

Required Qualifications - Education and Years of Experience

Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supervising student employees, interns, orvolunteers.
  • Familiarity with prototyping, fabrication, design thinking, ormaker technologies.
Program Development & Community Engagement (50%)
  • Develops and delivers a portfolio of educational programmingincluding workshops, events, training sessions, competitions, andmentorship opportunities.
  • Creates and supports co-curricular learning experiences thatpromote innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, and hands-onlearning.
  • Builds relationships with students, faculty, alumni, and campuspartners to expand makerspace engagement and participation.
  • Promotes an accessible, collaborative, and supportive learningenvironment.
  • Coordinates marketing and outreach efforts for makerspaceprograms and events.
Curricular Support & Academic Partnerships (25%)
  • Collaborates with faculty to support project-based learning andcourse-related makerspace activities.
  • Assists with the development of tutorials, demonstrations, andinstructional resources that support coursework.
  • Identifies opportunities to integrate makerspace resources intoacademic programs and student learning experiences.
  • Serves as a liaison between academic departments and makerspaceresources.
Strategic Planning & Program Assessment (15%)
  • Assesses program effectiveness through participation metrics,surveys, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Recommends improvements to educational offerings and engagementstrategies.
  • Identifies opportunities to expand makerspace programming andservices.
  • Supports long‑term planning efforts related to makerspacegrowth and utilization.
Administrative Coordination (10%)
  • Coordinates program scheduling, registration, communications,and event logistics.
  • Assists with budget tracking, reporting, and programdocumentation.
  • Coordinates student workers supporting programmingactivities.
Additional Duties
  • Demonstrates professionalism and collegiality through actions,interactions, and communications with others appropriate to anenvironment that is welcoming to all.
