The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner supports the quality of care provided to patients by staff through optimal orientation programs, ongoing evaluation of competence, and support of lifelong learning. The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner has in-depth nursing knowledge, clinical expertise, and knowledge of adult learning. Nursing Professional Development Practitioner is responsible for planning, conducting needs assessment and evaluating orientation and staff development programs for nursing and clinical personnel. They will identify outcomes of educational interventions based on input from learners and stakeholders, evidence, regulations and organizational goals. Nursing Professional Development Practitioner promotes relevant professional development opportunities and mentorship for members of the department of nursing at all levels to assist with the achievement of personal and professional goals.
