Job summary

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented Program Manager to support AWS. You will join the global PMO within the Sales and Marketing Legal team, managing projects of varying complexity and size while collaborating with cross-functional business partners.

You will work on process improvements, tool builds, reporting mechanisms, and updates to internal sites, ensuring stakeholders are informed on timelines and deliverables and maintaining professional integrity in handling confidential

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented and motivated Program Manager to support Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more. The successful candidate will join the AWS Sales and Marketing Legal team and work closely with legal team members and cross-functional business partners to manage and run projects of varying complexity and size.


Key job responsibilities

The successful candidate will use their program management superpowers to support the legal team by creating and managing tools, educating and coaching legal colleagues on project management, and designing projects for global roll-out. The candidate will have the ability to see the big picture and incorporate problem solving, strategic thinking, and tactical execution with a focus on taking ownership of improving the team’s systems and processes. The candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. A high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information, as well as the ability to work well with people at all levels is essential.


A day in the life

In this role, you will be part of a global team of PMs who comprise the Program Management Organization (PMO). The mission of the PMO is to raise the bar on project management across the Sales and Marketing Legal org, and to deliver high-impact projects effectively and efficiently. We will use your solid PM skills to help us achieve this mission.


As a PM, you will collaborate with your legal colleagues, the PMO’s customers, on projects of varying size, through project meetings, email, and instant messaging services. You might work on projects with colleagues in other geos, like EMEA and APJC, for which you will need to demonstrate flexibility. You will work on a variety of projects, like process improvement, tool builds, creating reporting mechanisms, drafting updates to our internal website, and so on.


It is your responsibility to ensure that all stakeholders are informed on project deliverables, timelines, and other pertinent information. You will use your writing skills to share project updates, draft PRFAQs, and other documents as needed.


Basic Qualifications


  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive)


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

  • Advanced degree, or MBA

  • active project management certification (e.g., APM, CSM, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2)

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver both strategic and tactical results from inception to completion

  • Ability to influence others without direct authority

  • Exceptional judgment, creative problem-solving skills combined with business curiosity, and a strategic viewpoint

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data

  • Experience with software development or managing a software system; including assessing cost/benefits and configuring for user experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSU). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
