General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager in the Advanced Sensors Group in Poway, CA. The role leads radar development programs, coordinates with strategic teams, plans and manages schedules, and ensures delivery through all program phases.

Ideal candidates have a technical background with 9+ years in program administration, DoD proposal experience, and the ability to travel up to 25% as required. A Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in engineering, science or a related technical field and nine or more years of program administration experience.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts and practice including planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet milestones.
  • Understanding and hands-on experience on radar systems, SIL integration, flight & ground test experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop solutions across technologies to meet program requirements.
  • Experience in developing DoD proposals and defense industry business development, contract negotiation and start-up.
  • Experience in program execution including cost/schedule management (EVMS/EV Lite, IMS), government property management and close out.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills to interface with all stakeholders.
  • Customer focus with ability to work autonomously, in teams, and travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project managers executing radar development programs and pursue new radar business opportunities with GA-ASI strategic teams.
  • Plan, manage and technically direct performance of one or more engineering programs at a single location.
  • Guide all phases from initiation through delivery using defined plans and methodologies.

Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Program Manager in the Advanced Sensors Group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This role will report to the senior program manager and focus on leading project managers that are executing radar development programs as well as cultivating new radar business development and marketing opportunities in concert with the GA-ASI strategic development and marketing teams.
  • This position is responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of one or more developed or mature engineering program(s) contained at a single location.
  • Manages programs which have well defined program plans and delivery methodologies. Leads all phases of assigned program(s) from initiation through delivery.
  • Responsible for program(s) which represent stable growth. Applies established technologies using standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems. Typically accomplishes objectives through direct execution as well as from subordinate team members.
  • Responsible for decisions that could impact outcomes where erroneous decisions could cause serious schedule delays and expenditure of additional time and resources.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering, science or a related technical field as well as nine or more years of progressively complex program administration experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practice as well as program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Understanding and hands on experience on Radar Systems, SIL Integration, flight & ground test experience preferred.
  • Must be able to develop solutions to problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements.
  • Experiences in developing DoD proposals and defense industry business development, contract negotiation and program start-up.
  • Experiences in program execution including cost/schedule management (EVMS/EV Lite, IMS), program execution, government property management and program close out.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel up to 25% as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance is required.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary

Salary range: 99,500 - 170,750
