The University of Houston seeks a Department Administrator to oversee day-to-day operations of a large academic program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. You will supervise staff and student workers, coordinate programs and processes, and ensure smooth administrative workflow across the department.

Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university programor department, including the supervision of staff employees,student workers, programs or processes.
Additional duties that the department would like to be consideredfor this position include: provides guidance, administer trainings,and evaluate performance of front office staff; assist chair,faculty and staff with event planning; coordinate programs for thedepartment and centers, (e.g. locating venues, finding caterers andsetting up for events); works with chair and financial team ondeveloping budget for events, especially fundraisers; coordinatewith student advisory committee and relevant staff on campusoutreach programs; serve as liaison for the chair, faculty andstaff with other university departments and offices; make travelarrangements for chair and guests, screens all incoming telephonecalls, sorts and prioritizes mail; draft routine responses tocorrespondence as needed; manage the process for the developmentand completion of dossiers for chair to review for university rank,tenure and promotion for approval; drafting offer, reappointment,and summer agreement letters for faculty; essential duty ofassisting the department chair with creating, developing andentering the master course schedule for classes offered by theElectrical & Computer Engineering Department each academic yearand summer sessions;
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoreticaland practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professionaldiscipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professionaldiscipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtainedthrough a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a collegeor university or an equivalent in-depth specialized trainingprogram that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directlyjob-related experience.
