Job description

About the Position

This position is part of the Reemployed Annuitants Cadre, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). On an as-needed basis, employees occupying these positions provide emergency support to disaster-stricken areas throughout the United States. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1-year. At management's discretion, the appointment may be extended for up to a maximum of 3 years or converted to a term appointment for up to a maximum of 6 years.

Specialized Experience

One year of specialized experience which includes:

  • 1) Applying expert knowledge of management principles, practices, policies, regulations, and procedures to support organizational operations and mission execution;
  • 2) Developing budgets for natural disaster response and emergency management projects;
  • 3) Managing natural disaster and/or emergency programs and projects critical to agency mission accomplishment;
  • 4) Implementing policies related to emergency management operations, work authorizations, and funding processes;
  • 5) Resolving complex issues involving the design, funding, and execution of natural disaster and emergency management programs in coordination with agency officials, contractors, and customers.
Time in Grade Requirement

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
