Job summary

U.S. Pacific Fleet is seeking a highly qualified professional to support capability development for Surface Ship Defense System (SSDS) equipped ships and participate in the initial development of Fleet Tactics and doctrine.

The role includes providing technical support for projects aimed at improving warfighting capability and serving as the organizational lead for exploring concepts of operation, force generation, and integration of future force platforms.

Qualifications

  • Specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

  • Provide well researched position papers and briefings to develop and execute a comprehensive surface force plan.
  • Track and align efforts in surface force testing, experimentation, concept development and TTP validation.
  • Coordinate integration of warfighting requirements based on fleet needs and guidance from fleet leadership.

Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • This position is covered under Public Law 114-264, the Program Management Improvement Accountability Act (PMIAA).
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to work onboard ships.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing fact finding and analytical techniques to identify problems and recommend corrective actions for programs that support the development of surface ship defense systems or warfighting capabilities.

Examples Of Qualifying Experience
  • Managing the development, integration, and testing of Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) or related Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) programs, ensuring the delivered technical capabilities support in the employment of U.S. Navy warfighting capability in both combat and non-combat environments.
  • Formulate and devise new and unique U.S. Navy operational employment strategies and concepts to defeat emergent adversarial threats in response to fleet requests.
  • Provide leadership with expert tactical guidance and recommendations for achieving the organizations mission.
