Job summary

Thread is seeking a Program Manager in Baltimore, MD to design and execute strategies that help young people complete high school and pursue post‑secondary pathways. You will lead campaigns, build partnerships with high schools, and develop staff and volunteers to support student outcomes.

The role requires 3–5 years of project management, a commitment to equity, and strong communication skills. Evening/weekend availability is expected to support program activities and community engagement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement campaigns such as Camp, monthly community service, and threadHOURS®.
• Build and execute strategy to keep assigned high‑school students on track for high‑school completion and for 2/4‑year degree programs.
• Design and implement programming that builds capacity of staff, volunteers, and young people for meaningful relationships and goal attainment.
• Collect, verify, and analyze students’ academic data and distribute it to volunteers and students to monitor progress and intervene proactively when credit recovery is needed.
• Plan and execute key student transition periods, including new‑student enrollment and the transition from high school to post‑high‑school.
• Develop, manage, and assist with additional programs and projects as needed to achieve organizational outcomes.
• Develop, maintain, and deploy resources for volunteers and young people across channels (mobile app, guide, email, etc.).
• Collaborate with other functional teams to support volunteers and students.
• Ensure community compliance with budgets, policies, and procedures.

Program Manager – Baltimore, MD

Responsible for building and executing Thread’s goal attainment strategy to ensure all Thread young people complete high school, affirmatively choose a post‑high‑school pathway, and continue to provide necessary support of young people in Years 6‑10 to achieve post‑high‑school goals including 2‑ and 4‑year degree attainment and necessary credentials. This includes developing and facilitating in‑and‑out‑of‑school academic and experiential programming for young people and volunteers, developing and maintaining a strong relationship with a partner high school, and working with counterpart site staff to ensure all Thread young people have the skills, knowledge, opportunities, and support they need to complete high school and pursue higher education.

Program & Project Design and Implementation

Partnership Development & Advocacy

• Develop and maintain transformative relationships at assigned high‑school sites, ensuring resources such as space, report cards, and credit‑recovery support are available.
• Advocate with school partners to prevent transfers, meet student needs, and provide necessary supports while exchanging performance data.
• Engage community partners and Teammate volunteers to co‑lead programming and distribute community resources.

Coaching and Capacity Building

• Support and develop Teammates to ensure effective program delivery and site‑school activities.
• Develop, maintain, and deploy relevant resources for volunteers and young people across channels (mobile app, guide, email, etc.).
• Collaborate with other functional teams to support volunteers and students.
• Ensure community compliance with budgets, policies, and procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• 3–5 years of successful project and program management, with a focus on building and developing teams, data input, monitoring, and evaluation.

• Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline.
• Experience facilitating group programming that connects young people to academic and professional goals.
• Experience counseling young people through goal‑setting and attainment, and identifying high‑school and post‑high‑school interests.
• Successful leadership, coaching, and development of a volunteer team.
• Familiarity with Baltimore’s human services landscape, including the city public school system and local resources.
• Prior experience in youth‑serving or nonprofit environments.
• Prior experience with mobile app–based data input and Salesforce.
• Fluency in a second language, Spanish.
